November 15, 2023 - The End!!

Hello! Before taking this class, I had hardly ever written long English texts. By writing articles on my blog, I've had more opportunities to research in English, and recently, I've started using platforms like Reddit. Using English that I don't typically use is very enjoyable. Most importantly, it's all about output, isn't it? I particularly enjoyed creating the last video. Furthermore, it was also very enjoyable to read articles written by others. Discovering what interests other people on social media brought me joy. I also intend to continue writing my blog in English like this. Thank you very much.

This is why AI image creation is not perfect yet.

November 1, 2023 - What is News to You?

Hello! Today, I want to share some exciting news with you that I recently found. Check out this news: DALL·E 3 Works with ChatGPT, Bing, and Microsoft Designer https://yukitaylor00.medium.com/dall-e-3-integration-with-chatgpt-bing-and-microsoft-designer-announced-1bd3cf4a30b2 This news is about DALL·E 3, an AI that can make pictures, now working with ChatGPT and Bing.  This means we can ask ChatGPT to make an image, and it will use DALL·E 3 to do it. What's cool is that if you don't like the first picture, you can ask ChatGPT to change it.  For example, if I ask for a picture of a "Japanese man singing in the rain"  and then decide I want it to look more like a cartoon, I can ask ChatGPT-4, and it will change it for me. Also, because DALL·E 3 is working with Bing, maybe we will see these AI-made pictures when we search online. That's a fun thought! I think AI is really interesting. It's always changing and getting better.  I feel like every time I hear about...

Hello! Today, I want to introduce you to my favorite comic. Have you heard of Kazuo Umezu? What do you think of this man? If you don't know him, he might seem like just some funny guy. But he's a big deal in Japan's horror manga world. Umezu started drawing back in the 1950s and is a big-shot horror manga . He's also made cool funny comics like Makoto-Chan (1976). His style and spooky drawings are pretty popular here. A lot of his stuff has been made into movies, shows, and toys. and he's like the third Japanese person to win a big comic prize at the Angoulême Festival in France. Now, let me show you one of his famous works. It's called "The Drifting Classroom." This comic's about a bunch of kids and teachers who get zapped into a crazy future world. The main kid, Sho, fights with his mom one day and leaves home. And then, he never sees her again because of some big explosion that sends his school to this future place. There, they've gotta deal...

October 18, 2023 - Long Form Mid Term Assignment

Hi! Today, I'm talking about two videos. The first video is about how big Tokyo is. I also think Tokyo is very big. It explains that Tokyo is not just one city. It has many parts like towns and even villages. I didn't know Tokyo had villages. This video shows cool editing. It compares Tokyo with big cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York. This helps us see how huge Tokyo really is. The second video is about funny Japanese apartment names.  Some apartments in Japan have English names. Because of how they use English and Katakana, some names sound funny. Like there's an apartment called "4th avenue" in Nagano, not New York. Many apartments use the word "life" in their names, like "Dream Life" and "Sunlight." One funny name is "Life One Way." I enjoyed this video because I'm Japanese. To us, these names are normal, but English speakers might find them strange.  The video makes fun of this in a light-hearted wa...

October 11, 2023 - Let's Eat!

Hello! Today, I want to talk about a special food from China that I like a lot. The food is called Suodiu (嗦丟), and people say it's "the world's hardest dish." It's not a strange animal or a plant that you can't eat. It's actually rocks. Yes, rocks. The recipe has river rocks and some spices. But no, you don't eat the rocks. Suodiu is a kind of food you "suck and throw away." You suck on the rocks to taste the flavor, then throw them away. It's like eating food with bones. First, the rocks are boiled to clean them. Then, they are cooked with some fat, doubanjiang (a spicy paste), green onions, garlic, salt, coriander, and Sichuan peppercorns. Cooking the rocks this way brings out a special taste. After cooking, you suck on the rocks but don't swallow them. People enjoy Suodiu for its taste, not for nutrition because you can't digest rocks  and you can’t chew them either. When I first heard about this food, I thought it was a jo...

October 9, 2023 - All About Music

Hi! Today I will talk about my favorite music. My favorite English song is "Video Killed the Radio Star." This song is very famous. It was released in 1979 by a British music group called The Buggles. I first heard this song as a cover on the NHK show "Tensai TV-kun." The song's theme is about the transition from radio to television.  When television arrived, radio became less popular. The singers lost their chance to become famous because of television. The song reminisces about the good old times of radio. I love this song because the music sounds futuristic, yet it talks about old media. By the way, the first video ever played on MTV was this song's music video. Although the music video is over 40 years old, it still stands the test of time. This song talks about the changing times in media.  However, now, 40 years later, video is no longer the main media. There's a humorous new parody song called "Internet Killed the Video Star" that discus...
